Minnesota United's spring championship hopes came to an end Saturday night when the team played to a 1-1 tie with the Carolina RailHawks in Cary, N.C.

Midfielder J.C. Banks got his first league goal for the United, early in the second half. Nacho Novo scored the equalizer in the 80th minute, six minutes before he received a red card for tackling Juliano Vicentini from behind.

The United (3-1-5) is on an eight-match unbeaten streak, a run that includes five draws.

Brothers pick U

The Gophers football team landed commitments from a pair of defensive backs, twin brothers Elijah and Elisha Daniels, from Fort Lauderdale, Fla.

Elijah is a consensus three-star safety. Elisha is a consensus three-star cornerback. Both announced their decisions on Twitter, giving the Gophers 11 commitments for the Class of 2016.

Saints make it 10

Dustin Crenshaw retired the final 22 hitters he faced and faced the minimum 27, pitching a two-hit shutout for the first of his career as the Saints won their 10th game in a row, beating Sioux Falls 2-0 at CHS Field.

Crenshaw induced two double-play balls to erase his two baserunners. The Saints (14-1) matched the longest single-season win streak in franchise history.

Match play final set

Defending champion Sarah Burnham beat Leigh Klasse 4 and 3 in the semifinals of the Minnesota Women's Public Golf Association Match Play Championship at Bunker Hills Golf Club in Coon Rapids. Burnham will face two-time champ Olivia Herrick in the final Sunday after Herrick defeated Amanda Bigger 4 and 3.
