Rob Christy scored the decisive goal in a shootout and Atticus Kelly stopped three of the four shooters to give the Class 2A, No. 3 St. Thomas Academy boys' hockey team a victory over Class 2A, No. 2 Minnetonka in the Schwan's Cup Gold Division championship over at Ridder Arena.

The teams skated to a 3-3 tie through regulation time and an eight-minute overtime session, forcing the shootout that started with three shooters per team. St. Thomas Academy's Payton Matsui and Minnetonka's Bobby Brink each scored in the shootout, which then went to a sudden-death format.

Schwan's Cup Silver Division: Class 2A, No. 9 Cretin-Derham Hall scored five goals in the second period to break the game open in a 9-2 victory over Class 1A, No. 14 Minneapolis in the championship game. Danny Magnuson led the Raiders with one goal and four assists. Joe Buckingham added two goals and one assist. Jacob Erickson led Minneapolis with two goals.

Girls' hockey

Kaposia Classic: Kaity McKenzie recorded a 38-save shutout to give Class 1A, No. 7 South St. Paul a 2-0 victory over Class 2A, No. 19 Lake- ville South in the championship game. Savannah Lenarz, had a goal and an assist for the Packers.

Boys' basketball

Totino-Grace 64, St. Louis Park 63: Will Schmidt hit the game-winning shot from the post with 3 seconds remaining as the Eagles won the Bethel Invitational championship. The senior made eight three-pointers and had 35 points total. Cire Mayfield scored a team-high 19 for the Orioles.

Rochester John Marshall 83, Armstrong 75: The Rockets' Matthew Hurt had 51 points to set a record in the Rochester Rotary Classic. The 6-9 junior also grabbed 17 rebounds and had three blocks.

Milestone

Crosby-Ironton coach David Galovich became the fifth boys' basketball coach in state history to reach 700 career victories when the Rangers defeated Fond du Lac Ojibwe 72-36 Thursday. Galovich joins Bob McDonald (1012), Bob Brink (936), Ken Novak Jr. (828) and Ziggy Kauls (739).
