The bus rapid transit Orange Line: An idea everyone should value?

The planned Orange Line, a $150 million bus-rapid transit project along I-35W, will likely get a much nicer response from state lawmakers than either light-rail project currently in the works. • Well, not everyone is on board — there's doubt over the support of the Counties Transit Improvement Board (CTIB), which collects sales taxes to help pay for metro-area transit projects. For the good of the region, counties must support the Orange Line by Sept. 2, write several area mayors and legislators.

• "Why are we still fighting about light rail if it is such a good idea?" asks Kim Crockett of the Center of the American Experiment in an editorial counterpoint. The Orange Line would be cheaper to build and operate and actually would address congestion, she argues.
