We have to admit, we received one of the more confusing press releases we've seen in a while this afternoon. The information was clear enough. And yes, the motivation was ultimately clear -- making this web site more famous, via the old adage that any publicity is good publicity -- but we still can't understand why they would include the quotes from outraged fans. In any event, if you live within earshot of Buffalo Bills radio broadcasts, you're going to have to figure out some other way to cheat on your spouse. Because you'll get no more help from in-game advertisements. From the release (our bold):
Coming swiftly on the heels of the Buffalo Bills decision to demote QB Trent Edwards, the Buffalo Bills Radio Network have kicked a player off the Bill games altogether: infidelity dating site AshleyMadison.com! The commercials, featured on the Buffalo Bills Radio Network during the first two Bills games, received so many complaints from listeners the network had to notify the controversial website that they could no longer run their ads. "I'm shocked they would pull these commercials only two weeks into our deal," says Noel Biderman, creator of the controversial website and former sports agent. "Especially since it was they who approached us about advertising during Bills games. We even created a specific $49 ad for the Buffalo market, as we know it's been especially hit hard by the economic downturn." This prompted a flood of angry listeners to tell the Bills exactly what they think of the ad: "I'm sure that's the message the NFL, the Bills and your radio station want to communicate to your listeners! What an embarrassment. But then again, I'm sure it's been quite difficult filling all the spots during these broadcasts when you consider the product the Bills are putting on the field." "It's bad enough the Bills are so bad, but I have to listen to an ad encouraging people to cheat on their spouses?" At the end of the release, we were encouraged to follow up if we wanted an interview with this Biderman character. Probably going to pass on that one.
