Family has identified the man who died over the weekend in a house fire in St. Louis Park that also sent his father to the hospital.
Logan C. Woida, 22, did not survive the blaze in the morning of Feb. 8 at their home in the 3000 block of Edgewood Avenue S., according to an online fundraising campaign started to help the family with medical, funeral and other expenses.
Christopher Woida, Logan’s father, was taken to the hospital and was receiving treatment in an intensive care unit, said Tammy Hischer, Logan’s aunt. His condition a day later has yet to be released by hospital officials.
“My sister, Michelle, and her family have lost their home and everything that she and Chris have built together over the last 26 years,” Hischer wrote. “Their pets are gone.”
Hischer added that “Michelle’s health is also fragile, as she requires dialysis treatments three times a week. This family is now facing overwhelming grief, medical uncertainty, and the total loss of their home.”
The St. Louis Park Fire Department said crews were alerted to a possible fire just after 7 a.m. When firefighters arrived, they found the home actively burning and began firefighting operations.
Fire crews at the scene said the two men were inside the house at the time of the fire, along with multiple pets.
The cause of the fire remains unknown, but fire officials say it isn’t believed to be suspicious.
