A 14-year-old was shot in the lobby of a Burnsville apartment complex Monday night, Feb. 9, and later died from his injuries.

No arrests have been announced and investigators believe the shooting was not random, according to Steph Kass, a spokeswoman for the city of Burnsville. She said there is no ongoing threat to the public.

The victim was identified Tuesday as Charles Moore, Jr., by his sister, Zaurice Steward.

“He loved his family a lot, would do anything for them,” she said in a statement. “He would’ve had a bright future, just needed a little more time. He’s forever going to be loved and missed.”

The shooting was reported shortly after 10:30 p.m. on the 13000 block of Harriet Avenue S. The victim died from his injuries after being hospitalized, Kass said.

No other information was immediately available.
