After wowing audiences at other Minnesota sites such as First Avenue and the Gophers’ football stadium over the past two years, bluegrass-y Americana singer/songwriter Sierra Ferrell is getting ready to take on the Minnesota State Fair.

The West Virginia singer/songwriter, whose star has risen sharply in recent years, will make her debut at the fair’s grandstand on Aug. 30. The Sunday night show is billed as the Current’s Music-on-a-Stick concert, with opening acts to be named.

Tickets go on sale Feb. 12 at 10 a.m. priced $46-$81 via eTix.com or 651-288-4427.

Ferrell, 37, was last seen in the Twin Cities as an unannounced guest of Lukas Nelson at his dad Willie’s big fundraiser, Farm Aid, last September at Huntington Bank Stadium. Lukas wisely let her take the lead through much of his set. Before that, Ferrell sold out both Surly Brewing Festival Field and First Avenue in rapid succession.

Known for effortlessly switching between fiddle and guitar while singing her heart out at her concerts, Ferrell has been frequently compared to Dolly Parton thanks to her soaring voice, poetic songwriting skills and seemingly endless array of colorful gowns and eclectic outfits. Her 2024 album, “Trail of Flowers,” swept the Americana music categories at last year’s Grammy Awards. She’s definitely an artist worth getting to know at the Great Minnesota Get-Together.

Here’s where Ferrell’s show falls in with the other concerts so far announced for the State Fair grandstand in 2026:

  • Thursday, Aug. 27: Bonnie Raitt
    • Friday, Aug. 28: “Weird Al” Yankovic
      • Sunday, Aug. 30: Sierra Ferrell
        • Tuesday, Sept. 1: Rod Stewart with Richard Marx
