Christmas Eve shooting leaves one dead, one injured in Twin Cities suburb

The shooting near Farmington is under investigation, but officials say there is no danger to the public.

A double shooting in the south metro on Christmas Eve left a woman dead and a man injured, authorities say.

The Dakota County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a shooting around 2:20 p.m. in Castle Rock Township, near Farmington.

Deputies found an adult woman who had died from a gunshot wound. A male victim was also at the scene with a gunshot wound to the head, officials said.

The man was transported to a local hospital, where he was being treated as of 5 p.m. Dec. 24. Officials said he was alive but did not specify his condition.

There is no danger to the public, Dakota County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Tim Hunt said. The incident remains under investigation.
