LONDON — Rising star Grigor Dimitrov of Bulgaria bowed out of Wimbledon in the second round after losing a thrilling five-set match over two days against Grega Zemlja of Slovenia.

The 29th-seeded Dimitrov, tipped by many as the next big thing in tennis, saved five match points before Zemlja finally seized his chance with a forehand passing shot down the line and won 3-6, 7-6 (4), 3-6, 6-4, 11-9 on Friday.

Their match had been suspended because of rain on Thursday, with the 55th-ranked Zemlja 9-8 up in the decider.

Zemlja achieved his best result at the All England Club by reaching the third round and will next play Juan Martin del Potro.
