A 9-year-old boy is being remembered as “full of life, laughter and love” before he was fatally hit last week by a public works truck in a south Moorhead intersection crosswalk.

The crash occurred about 11:45 a.m. Thursday at the intersection of 40th Avenue S. and 14th Street S., according to statements from the State Patrol and city officials. The intersection is controlled by stop signs in all directions.

The State Patrol described the 9-year-old boy, Adam Zakaria Amin of Moorhead, as a pedestrian. The city specified that he was on a bicycle.

According to the State Patrol, the truck was heading north on 14th Street when it struck the boy. The driver, Victor Carl Port, 64, of West Fargo, N.D., was not injured, authorities said.

“Adam was full of life, laughter and love,” read a posting on an online fundraising campaign started to help his family with funeral and other expenses related to the boy’s death. “His smile could light up a room, and his spirit brought joy to everyone who knew him. His absence leaves a deep void in the hearts of his family, friends and community.”
