Concordia (St. Paul), rated No. 1 in the AVCA national poll, defeated No. 6 Angelo State 25-17, 22-25, 26-16, 30-28 in the semifinals of the Colorado Premier Challenge in Denver.

The Golden Bears (7-0) played No. 2 Southwest Minnesota State at 8 p.m. in the championship game.

Mariya Sampson and Brooklyn Lewis led Concordia, which has a 26-match winning streak, past Angelo State with 15 kills apiece.

The Mustangs (7-0) advanced to the title game by beating Tarleton State 27-25, 25-15, 21-25, 25-17. Kaylee Burmeister and Taylor Reiss led SMSU with 15 kills each.

U hitter named MVP

Freshman 6-2 opposite hitter Stephanie Samedy of the Gophers was named the MVP of the American Campus Classic, which No. 1 Minnesota won by beating No. 5 Texas 3-1 on Friday night on the Longhorns' court in Austin.

In three matches, Samedy, of Clermont, Fla., had 43 kills, 10 blocks, hit .313 and averaged 4.3 kills per set in three matches.

Junior setter Samantha Seliger-Swenson and sophomore outside hitter Alexis Hart also were named to the all-tournament team.

• Mike Schultz, the former head professional at Hazeltine National Golf Club, will be among seven inductees into the PGA of America Hall of Fame. The 2017 class will be honored No. 2 in Austin, Texas.

• Kyle Burdick, a junior from South Dakota State, won the Oz Memorial meet on Friday night at Les Bolstad Golf Course and led the Jackrabbits to the team title. SDSU had 35 points, runner-up Drake 51 in the six-team meet. Burdick cover the 4-mile course in 19 minutes, 55.7 seconds. Freshman Hunter Lucas, running unattached, was the top Gopher, finishing in sixth place (20:39.4).

• Redshirt freshman Abby Kohut-Jackson led the Gophers women's team to the Oz Memorial title, taking first in the 6-kilometer race in 22:35.6. Teammate Anastasia Korzenowski, running unattached, took second (22:43.4). Minnesota had 25 points, and North Dakota State placed second in the six-team meet with 54.
