Masked thieves tried to steal an ATM by dragging it behind their stolen pickup during the early morning hours Thursday in the small town of Truman, near the Iowa border in south-central Minnesota.
The thieves failed to access the money in the cash machine, but were able to flee the scene, a statement from the Martin County Sheriff’s Office said Thursday.
Authorities are now asking the public for help finding the suspects, all of whom were wearing face coverings.
The thieves stole a single cab Chevrolet 1500 pickup about 4:45 a.m., shortly before using it to “forcibly remove” the drive-through ATM at Profinium Financial.
Investigators said they believe two other vehicles may be connected to the crime:
• A light-colored minivan
• A 4-door white Chevrolet pickup
The Martin County Sheriff’s Office asks anyone who has information about the crime to contact them at (507) 238-4481.
