St. Anthony police are searching for a man who fired a gun in the entryway of a Cub Foods store late Sunday following a confrontation over suspected theft.

No one was hurt after the suspect pointed a gun at another customer and fired into the ceiling before running off, said St. Anthony Police Chief Jeff Spiess.

At about 11:35 p.m., a customer approached two other customers who he believed were going to shoplift at the store, located at 3930 Silver Lake Road, and an argument broke out. The situation escalated and the suspect produced a weapon and fired, Spiess said.

He was with a woman of Indian or Middle Eastern descent. She was between 25 and 30 years old, about 5 feet, 3 inches tall and wearing baggy clothing and a multicolored scarf. The two also had a “miniature husky-like” dog on a leash, police said.
