A Farmington man is accused of shooting and killing his girlfriend on Christmas Eve, her birthday.

Bail was set at $2 million on Sunday for Demarco M. Jones, 29, who was found with a gunshot wound to the head when police were called to a residence in Castle Rock Township on the afternoon of Dec. 24.

The criminal complaint filed Monday identified the victim as Tatianna M. Ehnes-Giles, 26, who had two children in common with Jones.

Ehnes-Giles was a server at Buckboard Restaurant in Lakeville for eight years, according to an obituary. She was described as a loving mother who enjoyed throwing July 4 celebrations and bonfires.

According to the criminal complaint:

The shooting unfolded with at least one of the couple’s two children in the home. The family lived in the upstairs of the residence, while Ehnes-Giles’ mother and brother lived below them.

After the child ran downstairs and summoned for help, both Ehnes-Giles’ mother and brother went upstairs separately, finding Jones injured on the floor and Ehnes-Giles dead from a gunshot wound.

Jones, who was still conscious at the time, told Ehnes-Giles’ mother that the couple had shot each other. Later, when the brother arrived upstairs, Jones said he shot himself.
