Man arrested after fatal shooting outside Hibbing apartment

Police identified the victim as 24-year-old Parker Charles Johnson.

A man has been arrested in connection with a fatal shooting early Sunday outside a Hibbing apartment complex.

Officers were called to Meadowview Apartments, located on the 3500 block of 9th Avenue West, around 2:16 a.m. after reports of gunfire in the parking lot, according to Hibbing police.

When they arrived, authorities found a man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to the chest. The man was later pronounced dead at the scene.

Police identified the victim as Parker Charles Johnson, 24, of Hibbing.

Shortly after 12:30 p.m., investigators took a man into custody in connection with the shooting. Police said he was arrested without incident and is cooperating with the investigation.

The man is being held at the St. Louis County Jail while the case is reviewed by the St. Louis County Attorney’s Office for possible charges.

The Hibbing Police Department is working with the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension on the investigation, which remains active. Officials said additional details will be released when available.
