Is the Shawne Merriman/Tila Tequila story the perfect storm?

An NFL player, a reality TV star and a he-said, she-said battle over a domestic disturbance? It doesn't get more 2009 than that.

It's a sign of the times, a sign the apocalypse, or maybe a little bit of both. But seriously, this Shawne Merriman/Tila Tequila story? An NFL player, a reality TV star and a he-said, she-said battle over a domestic disturbance? It doesn't get more 2009 than that. Unless, of course, you add Twitter to the mix.

Oh. We have that too, now, we see.

If Merriman did what he is accused of it is, of course, despicable. What we're thinking about here is the story itself, how it will play out, and the insanity that it involves representatives from two of the most self-absorbed sectors of the world: an athlete and a fake TV star.

We can't tell yet if the ongoing story will be the best or worst thing in the world, but we're guessing it will be the latter.
