A federal judge has ordered the release of a man taken into custody by federal agents last week in a chaotic scene inside the Hennepin County Government Center.

Junior de Jesus Herrera Berrios, 18, was tackled and taken out of the Government Center following a foot chase with federal agents who were looking for him in the building. The man was in court for a hearing on drug charges over allegedly driving a car with 57 pounds of methamphetamine. U.S. District Judge Donovan Frank ordered the release of Herrera Berrios because the federal government provided no evidence it had a warrant to arrest him.

As scores of federal immigration agents leave the state and Operation Metro Surge winds down, Minnesotans are taking stock of what has happened and what comes next.

On Sunday morning’s “Face the Nation” on CBS, White House border czar Tom Homan said more than 1,000 federal officers have already left the state. And hundreds more are expected to exit on Monday and Tuesday.
