Derek Jeter appeared in his 13th and final All-Star Game and his ninth as a starter.

How he did: Batted leadoff and played shortstop for the AL. Went 2-for-2 with a double to right and a run scored in the first, and a single to right in the third. Became the oldest player with multiple hits in an All-Star Game. Defensively, made a nifty diving stop on the first batter of the game, with Andrew McCutchen just beating the throw. Was ceremoniously replaced at shortstop by the White Sox's Alexei Ramirez before the first pitch of the top of the fourth inning.

Just like home: Jeter stepped to the plate both times to a recording of the voice of late Yankees PA announcer Bob Sheppard. He got the "De-rek Je-ter" chant and left the field for the last time to "New York, New York."

Other touches: On Jeter's first at-bat, NL starter Adam Wainwright backed up toward second base and left his glove on the mound so he could clap along with everyone else. There were multiple standing ovations, a curtain call and hugs all around in the AL dugout.

Final All-Star stats: .481 average (13-for-27), six runs, three RBI, one MVP.
