The Gophers are the top team in men's college hockey. They jumped two spots in the most recent USCHO.com and USA Hockey/USA Hockey Magazine polls to claim No. 1.
Notre Dame, Miami (Ohio), Michigan and Boston College round out the top five. The Gophers received 25 of 34 first-place votes. (Complete rankings below)
The early rise to the top was made possible by the Gophers' 4-0 start and slip ups in front of them. Last weekend, No. 1 Miami fell to North Dakota and No. 2 Wisconsin lost to Boston College. In Week 1, No. 1 UMass-Lowell and No. 4 Boston College both lost.
The Gophers started the season ranked No. 5.
