A dusting of snow is expected to cover parts of southern Minnesota on Saturday before temperatures rise across the state next week.

Forecasts by the National Weather Service suggest up to an inch could cover many southern Minnesota counties Saturday, predicting that the cities of Worthington, Fairmont and Marshall are most likely to see snowfall.

Although the cold snap will bring one of the state’s first snow coatings, NWS forecasters predict that temperatures will rebound and hit the high 40s and 50s by next week.

“Locations as far north as Redwood Falls and Mankato may pick up a tenth of an inch or two of slushy, early season snow,” NWS forecasts read.

Saturday’s forecast follows the second warmest September and October on record before temperatures dipped.
