Family has identified the 27-year-old man who was shot to death in his Alexandria, Minn., home this week.

Police said the shooting occurred about 1:15 a.m. on Jan. 20 at an apartment in the 1700 block of 6th Avenue E.

They said the man was shot in the chest. Emergency responders declared the man dead at the scene.

Police Chief Scott Kent declined to say anything more about the killing, other than there were two other people in the home at the time.

No arrests have been announced as of the midafternoon Jan. 23.

Denver Ray Feeken was identified by his father as the man who was shot.

Lance Feeken told the Minnesota Star Tribune that his son was a single parent to two children. He said the children were not in the apartment during the shooting.

Noah Searcy said he and Denver Feeken grew up together in Glenwood, Minn., and became best friends.

“His mom and mine worked together, so we spent a lot of time in our youth together always hanging out,” Searcy told the Minnesota Star Tribune. “Denver and I became brothers over the years, and everything we experienced we did together.”

Monica Woods, mother to Denver Feekens’ children, posted on social media that “his kids loved him fiercely, completely, and that love will never fade. ... I will never let them forget how much you loved them, I promise.”
