Deaths of pair found after house fire in northern Minnesota ruled murder-suicide

The medical examiner determined that one was shot in the chest and the other had a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The deaths of two people whose bodies were found Wednesday after a house fire in northern Minnesota have been ruled a murder-suicide.

The Cass County Sheriff’s Office identified the victims as Connie Lea Pollock, 56, and Jack Eugene Pollock, 63.

Autopsies by the Ramsey County Medical Examiner’s Office determined that Connie Pollock died from a gunshot wound to the chest and Jack Pollock died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Deputies responded shortly before 3 a.m. Wednesday to the fire on Shady Lane NE. in Outing, about 40 miles north of Brainerd. The house was fully engulfed when first responders arrived on scene.

The Sheriff’s Office is continuing to investigate with help from the Crooked Lake Fire Department, the State Fire Marshal and the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension.
