NEW PRODUCTS Medtronic Inc., Fridley, has 510(k) clearance from the Food and Drug Administration for its Aquamantys 3 System as well as the new 8.2L Bipolar Sealer with Cutting and 6.0 Bipolar Sealer hand pieces. This new advanced energy platform provides the company's patented Transcollation technology and radio frequency cutting functions to new and existing hand pieces. The new generator offers surgeons and operating room staff features to improve ease of use, including a graphic user interface and an integrated cassette for simplified setup.

Boston Scientific Corp., Natick, Mass., has begun a phased launch of its Promus Elemen Everolimus-Eluting Platinum Chromium Coronary Stent System in China. The launch campaign will be expanded within the country based upon receipt of subsequent provincial reimbursement approvals. The company previously received registration approval for the Promus Elemen Stent System from the State Food and Drug Administration of the People's Republic of China.

NEW BUSINESS Veritec Inc., Golden Valley, a based provider of two-dimensional matrix technology and mobile banking debit card products, has signed an agent agreement with Secopay Inc., a Nevada corporation. Secopay will begin marketing Veritec's Blinx On-Off Debit Card to both banked and unbanked people.

DEBT AND EQUITIES TCF Financial Corp., Wayzata, declared a quarterly cash dividend of 5 cents per common share, payable Nov. 30 to stockholders of record on Oct. 28. At Sept. 30, there were 160 million common shares outstanding.

PERSONNEL Medtronic Inc., Fridley, elected Michael Leavitt, founder and chairman of Leavitt Partners, to its board of directors as an independent director. At Leavitt Partners, Leavitt now advises clients in the health care and food safety sectors. Earlier he was a Cabinet member in the George W. Bush administration, first as administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency (2003-2005) and then as secretary of health and human services (2005-2009). Before that, he served three terms as governor of Utah.

TCF Financial Corp., Wayzata, has selected former U.S. Rep. Jim Ramstad to its board of directors. Ramstad, who represented Minnesota's Third Congressional District from 1991 to 2009, now is a senior policy adviser to the Hazelden Foundation and the National Association of Drug Court Professionals, and a senior adviser to Alliantgroup, which provides specialty tax services to business clients.
