College hockey roundup: Mankato, Bemidji State get shutout wins

Minnesota State Mankato scored a goal in each period and senior goalie Connor LaCouvee needed to make just 16 saves as the Mavericks shut out Alabama Huntsville 3-0 in Mankato on Saturday night.

The Mavericks are 13-5-0 and Alabama Huntsville is 6-12-2.

C.J. Suess scored in the second and third periods for the Mavericks, his seventh and eighth goals of the season.

Reggie Lutz opened the scoring with a power-play goal 12 minutes, 45 seconds into the first period. Parker Tuomie had two assists.

Bemidji State 4, Alaska Anchorage 0: Myles Fitzgerald scored 93 seconds before the end of the second period, and a trio of third-period goals gave the Beavers (7-6-5) a shutout over the Seawolves (1-13-4) at Sanford Center.

Jay Dickman, Brendan Harris and Charlie Combs scored for Bemidji State in the third. Michael Bitzer made 20 saves to preserve the shutout.
