Casey's stores recall products in wake of peanut-related illnesses

A convenience store chain with outlets in the Twin Cities and elsewhere in Minnesota is voluntarily recalling two products because of the national peanut-related salmonella outbreak.

Casey's General Stores, based in Ankeny, Iowa, is recalling the following items:

• Casey's Peanut Clusters: 7-ounce bags, UPC 98437 12001. The packages of concern have "Best Before" code dates of 052708, 061708 012209, 020109, 030309,032209,032309 and 072709. The code date is n the back of the bag above the UPC number.

• Casey's Salted Peanuts: 5-ounce bags, UPC 98437 21001. The packages have "Best Before" code dates of 092508, 100708, 101408, 102308, 020409, 030209, 031609, 040609, 042509, 051209, 040609, 052609, 070809 and 080409.

These prodcuts were shipped to Casey's stores in Minnesota, Iowa, Nebraska, South Dakota, Kansas, Missouri, Illinois, Wisconsin and Indiana.

Casey's said it has received no consumer complaints connected to the recalled products. These items can be return to the store where they were bought for a full refund. Consumers with questions can call 1-800-831-0828.
