Byron Buxton was chosen the Twins MVP for the 2025 season after the veteran center fielder hit 35 home runs, drove in 83 runs and scored 97 in 126 games.
The team’s award winners were selected by the local chapter of the Baseball Writers Association of America.
Buxton was the second player in team history, after Kirby Puckett, to have more than 20 steals and more than 30 home runs in a season. He stole 24 bases without being caught, had an .878 OPS and was chosen for the American League All-Star team.
Joe Ryan was named the team’s pitcher of the year. The righthanded starter, also an All-Star, was 13-10 with a 3.42 ERA and 194 strikeouts in 171 innings.
The team’s rookie of the year was infielder Luke Keaschall, who was limited to 49 games because of injury but hit .302 with 28 RBI and 13 steals. The 23-year-old reached base in his first 12 games in the big leagues.
Austin Martin was named most improved player. The utility player hit .282 in 50 games with the Twins, and was 31-for-99 in his final 29 games.
Starting pitcher Pablo López won the Bob Allison Award, given to the Twins player who exemplifies determination, hustle, tenacity, competitive spirit and leadership both on and off the field. López suffered a teres major strain in June; the team had a winning record when he was injured, and had dismantled the roster by the time he returned in September. He finished the season with a 5-4 record and 2.74 ERA.
Infielder Brooks Lee won the team’s community service award, and catcher Ryan Jeffers was recognized with the media “good guy” award.
