St. Louis County authorities executing a search warrant at a residence on the Iron Range found more than 36 pounds of high-grade marijuana inside a residence.

A 60-year-old man from Eveleth, Minn., was arrested during the raid carried out on Friday at a property in Fayal Township, said Sgt. Luke Hendrickson of the St. Louis County Sheriff's Office.

Charges against the man are pending.

Besides the pot, with a street value of more than $170,000, members of the Lake Superior Drug and Violent Crime Task Force seized several firearms from the residence.

The bust comes just weeks after two University of North Dakota students from the Twin Cities were arrested and charged after a search of their residence near campus turned up 60 pounds of marijuana, a rifle, numerous pills and nearly $70,000 in cash.

In November, a 34-year-old woman from Askov, Minn., was caught driving on a North Dakota interstate with 286 pounds of marijuana with a street value of well more than $1 million, authorities said.
