A Christmas Day house fire in Marshall, Minn., killed one person, the Fire Department said Wednesday.
The blaze engulfed the home about 1:30 p.m. Monday in the 600 block of Elaine Avenue, a fire official said.
The resident who died has yet to be identified, and no one else was reported harmed.
Fire officials consider the home to be a total loss. What led to the fire remains under investigation.
Since Christmas, there have been at least five deaths in house fires in Minnesota. Four people died after a home caught fire in Hibbing on Tuesday, and a blaze in a Lakeville house claimed one life Tuesday. Preliminary indications of how those fires began also have yet to be revealed.
