Original owners: Adolf and Hildur Ronning. Ronning was a well-known inventor who held hundreds of patents including headlight dimmers and a tractor-powered golf course mower.

Cost to build in 1930: $69,000.

Spaces: 6,317 square feet including a vault room with fireproof door and a replica 18th-century "Swedish room" with an iron rod in the fireplace for dangling a cast-iron cooking pot over the flames. Ceilings and beams are Northern white oak and floors made from 2-inch-thick spruce.
