Tiger Woods faltered in a bid for his first victory in 15 months Sunday, leaving Alvaro Quiros to win the Dubai (United Arab Emirates) Desert Classic with a wild round that included a hole-in-one and triple bogey. The 70th-ranked Quiros shot a 68 to finish at 11-under-par 277, one stroke ahead of Anders Hansen of Denmark (70) and James Kingston of South Africa (67).

Woods had a 75 to end tied for 20th at 4-under 284.

"There were quite a few positives this week but a couple of glaring examples of what I need to work on," Woods said.

He entered the round one stroke off the lead, but for the second consecutive day he started with two bogeys in his first three holes. He clawed a shot back when his approach on the sixth ended up a few feet from the pin. However, Woods offset two birdies with two bogeys on the back nine and then double bogeyed the 18th.

"All my old feels [for the clubs] are out the window when the winds blow," he said. "That's the thing when you are making change. It's fine when the wind is not blowing. But when you have to hit a shot when the wind blows ... the new swing patterns get exposed."

Woods, who won in Dubai in 2006 and 2008, is now in the longest victory drought of his career. His last title came at the Australian Masters in November 2009.

Lehman wins Allianz Championship

Tom Lehman birdied the final hole to finish at 13 under, breaking a tie with Jeff Sluman and Rod Spittle and winning the Allianz Championship.

Lehman shot a final-round 69 to win for the third time on the Champions Tour. The 51-year-old former British Open champion had five birdies Sunday, but he bogeyed the par-4 ninth and par-3 14th to make things interesting.

"It was a good day, it was a fun day," said Lehman, who sank a 5 1/2-footer to secure the victory. "It was pretty nip-and-tuck all the way. No one could really get a separation. I played a pretty steady round of golf and was fortunate to get the victory."

Sluman had an eagle opportunity at the par-5 18th but had to settle for a birdie and a 69, while Spittle just missed his birdie putt and finished with a 70. "I knew when he missed that putt I had a chance to win," Lehman said. "That's when I got calm. It was all up to me to just roll it in the hole."

Russ Cochran (70) and Olin Browne (67) were another shot back at 10 under.

Points wins Pebble Beach pro-am

D.A. Points captured his first PGA Tour victory and dragged along his amateur, Bill Murray of "Caddyshack" fame, to the Pebble Beach pro-am title. One shot behind, Points holed out for eagle from 100 yards on the 14th hole and followed that with a bending 30-foot birdie putt. He closed with a 5-under 67 for a two-shot victory. Hunter Mahan closed with a 66 and wound up alone in second, two shots behind.

Vonn takes silver in downhillLindsey Vonn swept aside effects of a head injury to claim the silver medal in the downhill at the world championships in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany, finally claiming a spot on the podium following days of uncertainty and endless medical exams for her slight concussion.

"For me, this silver is as good as gold," Vonn said. "I've been fighting the last couple of days just to be able to race today and I'm very proud of this second place -- it was the best result possible for me."

Vonn has been struggling with the aftereffects of hitting her head in a training crash in Austria 11 days ago. The Olympic downhill champion lost her super-G title Tuesday when she finished seventh, and skipped the slalom part of the super-combined Friday, saying both days that it felt like she was "skiing in a fog."

As Vonn became the last race favorite to kick out of the starting gate, the "Mission Impossible" theme music began playing over the loudspeakers. Vonn finished 0.44 seconds behind winner Elisabeth Goergl, with Maria Riesch 0.60 back in third.
