As expected, the Wild added a horde of players to its training camp roster today. Twenty-two players were promoted from Traverse City and the Wild signed goalie Kevin Lalonde, who like tryout Leland Irving is a former Calgary Flames draft pick, to a tryout.
Lalande, 28, spent the past five years in Russia's Kontinental Hockey League.
As I alluded to on the previous blog, with Brody Hoffman and Stephen Michalek coming straight out of college with no pro experience, it's probable the Wild signs another goalie for Iowa (unless Niklas Backstrom was willing to go there on the short-term). That could be Irving or Lalande, or maye they sign or trade for another goalie.
The Wild now has 58 players on its roster. It must get to 23 by the first week of October.
Here is the 35-man roster from the other day. Add Lalande and the following players:
Forwards: Christoph Bertschy, Brady Brassart, Grayson Downing, Reid Duke, Tanner Eberle, Kurtis Gabriel, Pavel Jenys, Chase Lang, Zack Mitchell, Jack Walker and Sam Warning.
Defensemen: Gustav Bouramman, Tanner Faith, Guillaume Gelinas, Alex Gudbranson, Dylan Labbe, Gustav Olofsson, Zach Palmquist, Mike Reilly and Hunter Warner.
Goaltenders: Brody Hoffman and Stephen Michalek.
The Wild also released forwards Jared Bethune, Ryan Graham and Carter Rigby from their amateur tryouts.
