The Twins are 19-6 in their past 25 games against the White Sox, including 8-4 this year. One key to that success has been the bullpen.

This year, Twins relievers have posted a 1.82 ERA against the White Sox, while the starters have gone 6-3 with a 4.79 ERA. Manager Ozzie Guillen had that quote last week about how his team never seems to score against Matt Guerrier and Jesse Crain. The Twins like it that way and hope it continues.

As a group, the Twins don't love facing White Sox lefthander John Danks because he's such a bulldog, but Michael Cuddyer doesn't mind. Cuddyer is 20-for-41 (.488) lifetime against Danks. Joe Mauer is 14-for-39 (.359).

Update: Justin Morneau has been playing catch on the field and is out for early batting practice. He's been working out at Target Field almost every day, but it's rare to see it happening on the field with people around. Could be another positive step in his slow recovery from a July 7 concussion.

After what looked to be a very strong session, with several balls hit for home runs, Morneau said nothing much has changed. "I haven't made it through a day yet without symptoms. It feels good when I wake up in the morning, and as the day goes on, it doesn't feel as good."

"There is no timetable -- at all," Manager Ron Gardenhire said. "There is none. There's no pressure on him whatsoever. It's his program, and we want him to do whatever it takes to get well."

* Crain and Guerrier will continue to get the primary setup work. "We've got to get Rauch going again," Gardenhire said. "We've got to get him some better situations where he can get out there, get a clean inning or two, get his confidence back up. He's kind of struggling right now, mentally. He's fighting it a little bit, but that's because of everything that's happened to him, from changing roles to the injuries. But definitely Matty and Jesse are both throwing the ball really good, Jesse especially."

* The Twins wound up signing 31 of their 50 draft choices before Monday night's deadline, including each of their top 10 picks. One recent signing of note was 44th rounder David Deminsky, a lefthanded pitcher from Sartell, Minn.
