"Thursday] you saw the three-point shooting," Lynx guard Lindsay Whalen said when asked about Indiana at practice. "They really extended Connecticut's defense. [Tamika] Catchings is such a great player. They are a great hustle team. They have great individual one-on-one players that can really penetrate and drive."
Using all those skills, the Fever beat the Sun 87-71 on the Sun's court. Indiana made nine of 12 three-points, that's a ridiculous 75 percent from behind the arc
"Briann January has had a great year, but she really had a great second half [Thursday] night.," Whalen said. "We know they have a lot of weapons that we need to focus on."
January had 12 points and four assists on Thursday.
"We played them a while ago," Whalen said, referring to Indiana. "So it is kind of good to have a little feel. They have a feel for us, so it is going to be a good series."
Whalen said she was impressed how the Fever played after guard Katie Douglas suffered an ankle injury in the first quarter. "It shows the kind of team that they are," Whalen said. "The kind of heart. Everyone does that when they know someone goes down. Everyone steps up and makes plays Give them a lot of credit for making shots, making plays and getting the job done.
"It was hard to watch that injury. Anybody who has played basketball, or any sport really, has probably had that feeling. It is a tough injury for Katie, but everyone else stepped up and played hard."
Douglas was diagnosed with a sprained ankle on Friday. She is day-to-day.
