Weggemann takes a sixth in Paralympics swimming

Mallory Weggemann of Eagan finished sixth in the women's swimming SM8 200-meter individual medley Wednesday at the Paralympic Games in London.

Weggemann, who won Sunday's 50-meter freestyle S8 gold medal, finished in 2:58.44, which was 21.35 second behind gold medalist Jessica Long of the United States.

Chuck Aoki of Minneapolis scored a team-high 14 goals as the U.S. men's wheelchair rugby team opened with a 56-44 victory over Great Britain.

The U.S. men's wheelchair basketball team, which includes Ian Lynch of Brooklyn Park, beat Germany 57-46 in the quarterfinals. The Americans play Australia in Thursday's semifinals.
