We're hoping for a resolution to the QB merry-go-round -- at least for this week -- today out at Winter Park. We'll be out there lending our usual wit and wisdom to the situation (read: not that much).

For now, though, a report this morning caught our eye, per NFL.com:

NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported Wednesday that if Josh Freeman is prepared with the Vikings' playbook to a satisfactory level, he'll start Monday against the New York Giants.

The Vikings' plan all along was allow Freeman to learn last week and accelerate the progress this week. They are impressed with what they've seen so far, according to Rapoport.

Here is the kicker to Rapoport's report: If Freeman isn't prepared, the Vikings will start Christian Ponder.

Interesting. Very interesting. This could be smoke and mirrors designed to beef up Ponder's trade value in the eyes of other teams. We would still be stunned if Freeman isn't the starter. But just as interesting, we suppose: who gets the call as the No. 2 QB against the Giants -- and if it is Ponder, what does that mean for Matt Cassel? With three QBs on the roster who would like to be starters, something has to give.

We should know more shortly before noon. Stay tuned ...
