Score one for the seeding process.

No. 2 seed Wayzata and No. 3 Waconia joined top-seed Lakeville North and No. 4 Centennial as winners today at the Class 3A volleyball tournament. All four teams won in 3-0 sweeps.

Wayzata took care of Andover 25-18, 25-22, 25-14 on Court 1 (or, the West Court as someone keeps calling it ... who the heck can tell which direction we're facing here at Xcel Energy Center ... well, I guess she can ... OK, inner-monologue OFF) while Waconia mashed the Moorhead Spuds (sorry, had to ...) 25-22, 34-32, 25-14.

That middle set score in the latter match, by the way, is not a misprint. And in some ways, it's appropriate that if we were going to see a 30-pointer - didja see the 30-pointer? - it would involve the Wildcats.

Waconia only made it to state because of a pair of marathon five-setters in the section tournament against Shakopee and Eden Prairie. Waconia was down 0-2 in each of them.

Nothing close to five sets so far here today. Perhaps we'll see some nailbiters later.

Class 1A quarterfinal matches are underway. In the first, we have the Vikings of Minneota taking on the Patriots of Win-E-Mac on Court 1 the West Court. No sign of Tom Brady or Brett Favre.
