High expectations met cold reality in the first week of the season for the East Ridge boys’ basketball team.
The Raptors feature future Division I players in forward Brian Ishola (North Dakota St.) and 6-11 center Ryan Keenan (Pepperdine). They lost two of their first three games — to Chanhassen and Shakopee, sandwiched around a victory over Mahtomedi — before cruising to an 83-35 victory over St. Louis Park on Tuesday. Through four games, the athletic Ishola is leading the team in scoring, averaging 16 points per game.
Park turnaround?
With its 63-35 victory over North St. Paul Tuesday, the Park of Cottage Grove boys’ basketball team evened its record at 2-2. The last time the Wolfpack was at .500 this late in the season was 2008.
