UnitedHealth expects sizable profit jump next year

The healthcare giant is likely to benefit from the Affordable Care Act as the federal government and states start to implement the law.

UnitedHealth Group Inc. said Monday that it expects to generate $123 billion to $124 billion in revenue for fiscal 2013 and earnings of $5.25 to $5.50 per share.

The Minnetonka-based health insurance giant also reaffirmed its fiscal 2012 profit forecast of $5.20 to $5.25 per share.

Analysts expect, on average, earnings of $5.60 per share on $118.6 billion in revenue, according to FactSet.

UnitedHealth is hosting its annual investors meeting in New York this morning.
