In the opening game of the Mariucci Classic, Massachusetts defeated Alabama-Huntsville 2-1 in overtime to stop a five-game losing streak. Minutemen freshman Griff Jeskzka scored the winning goal with 2:50 remaining in the extra period. Orono native Jake Horton scored earlier for Massachusetts while Ryan Wischow made 29 saves. The Chargers outshot UMass 30-19.
