Bobby Bell, the former Gophers great and a Pro Football Hall of Famer, at long last received his diploma from the University of Minnesota on Thursday night at Mariucci Arena. Bell, 74, was 13 credits short of graduating when he left the university in 1963 but returned last year to finish his degree in recreation, park and leisure studies. "My dad — I know he's looking down with my mom — and he's saying, 'I told you you could do it,' " said Bell, who wore the gold watch his father gave him before he left for Minnesota in 1959.
