TWINS UPDATE

The Twins (67-89) finish the season on the road with three games at Texas and three games at Philadelphia after going 3-7 on their final homestand. Their final home game of 2025 was a 6-2 victory over Cleveland on Sunday, a victory that ended a five-game losing streak as well as the Guardians’ 10-game winning streak. The Twins are 29-46 on the road and 13-17 against AL West teams. They lost two of three to Texas in June at Target Field, getting outscored 34-13 in the series, with a 16-4 loss in the opener in a game Mahle started and a 16-3 loss in the finale in a game Corbin started.

The Twins have not announced a starter for Thursday’s game. That would have been Pablo López’s turn in the rotation, but he landed on the injured list because of a mid-forearm strain suffered Friday.

3B Royce Lewis, who hit a pinch-hit, three-run homer Sunday, is hitting .284 with four home runs, 13 RBI and nine stolen bases (in as many attempts) in 19 games this month. Sunday’s game was his 100th of the season; he played in only 82 games in 2024.

Catchers Ryan Jeffers (concussion injured list) and Christian Vázquez (left shoulder infection) are expected to accompany the team on the road trip. Jeffers, who has been sidelined since Sept. 4, could be activated but likely won’t catch. TEXAS UPDATE

The Rangers (79-77) play their final three home games of the season before ending the season at Cleveland. They were swept at home over the weekend by Miami and have lost seven games in a row, leaving them five games behind the final AL wild-card spot with six games remaining. It’s their longest losing streak since an eight-gamer in August 2023; that year, the Rangers recovered to win their first World Series championship. Texas is 47-31 at home this season. Only Toronto (50-25) and Seattle (48-27) have more home victories among AL teams.

The Rangers pitching staff leads the major leagues with a 3.45 ERA. Texas has finished between 10th and 14th in the AL in ERA for 11 consecutive seasons dating to 2014. DeGrom, the five-time All-Star and two-time NL Cy Young Award winner with the Mets, is sixth in the AL with a 3.01 ERA. His 12 victories are his most since 2017.

OF Wyatt Langford, the No. 4 overall pick in the 2023 drft, is hitting .242 with 22 home runs, 62 RBI and 22 stolen bases. ... OF Michael Helman, who appeared in nine games with the Twins in 2024, is hitting .247 with five home runs and 19 RBI in 32 games.

The $500 million middle infield combination of SS Corey Seager (appendectomy) and 2B Marcus Semien (left foot fracture) could return this week. Semien has been out since Aug. 21, Seager since Aug. 28. ... Former Twins LHP Danny Coulombe (left shoulder fatigue), who has been sidelined since Sept. 1, has been on a rehab assignment and could be activated this week. ... IF Sam Haggerty (left ankle inflammation) is out.
