The Twins decided this morning to place Danny Santana on the 15-day disabled because of a bone bruise on his left knee.

``Speed is a big part of his game." Twins manager Ron Gardenhire said. ``We can't take a chance. He can't play."

Johan Pino was scheduled to fly back to Class AAA Rochester around 1 p.m. but was told this morning that he was going nowhere.

``I was going to take my flight," Pino said with a smile. ``So, this is good."

Pino had gotten into the team spirit. The players have been wearing solid color suits on team charter flights - shoes, socks, belts, shirts all the same color or close - and Pino wore a purple suit on the charter.

``I like that color a lot," he said.

Pino will throw in the bullpen tomorrow and pitch on Monday against the Royals. It will be Pino, Ricky Nolasco and Kevin Correia against Danny Duffy, James Shields and Jason Vargas.

Gardenhire said that he's liked some of Oswaldo Arcia's at bats recently but noted that he's still takes a few crazy cuts, ``trying to hit the ball 8,000 miles," Gardy said. He agreed that veteran Kendrys Morales could be a good mentor for Arcia as he gets out of his funk.

``I think Morales has talked to Arcia," he said.

The Twins are donating a helmet signed by Joe Mauer and baseballs signed by Paul Molitor and Glen Perkins to a auction to benefit the family of sportswriter Richard Durrett, who passed away unexpectedly a couple weeks ago.

The benefit will be held on Saturday in Dallas.

The two youngest players in baseball are on the rosters for this game. Rangers shortstop Rougned Odor (20 years, 144 days) is the youngest in the league. The Twins' Jorge Polanco (20, 357) is the second youngest.

Kevin Correia is on the mound tonight. The Twins need a strong start from him as they have posted a 12.94 ERA over their last four games. That has put them back in last place in the AL in starter's ERA.
