Twins call up Jim Hoey in time for series against the Angels

The right-handed Hoey throws fire, but he's struggled to come up with a second pitch and control the strike zone

The first of the September callups is headed for the Twins: Righthander Jim Hoey.

Hoey is 1-3, 3,83 with 21 walks and 38 strikeouts in 42.1 innings. His fastball can hit 98 miles an hour but the Twins need him to throw more strikes and perfect a second pitch, He will come to the aid of a Twins bullpen that has thrown the seventh most innings in baseball.

He's 1-2, 7.71 in 17 games with the Twins.
