Twins and their leather: Glove stories and love stories

Seven Twins players told us about their loving, or tough-love, relationships with their leather. From microwaves to "treating her" with care, here are their glove stories.

Trevor Plouffe, 3B

Plouffe keeps it simple: he likes to play catch with a new glove in the warm weather at spring training to break in the leather.

Torii Hunter, OF

A nine-time Gold Glove award-winner, Hunter treats new leather like you treat leftovers: 90 seconds in the microwave.

Kurt Suzuki, C

The veteran catcher likes a soft catcher’s mitt, so he can get a good feel of the ball coming into the glove.

Ervin Santana, P

One red, one blue. Watch the video to hear how Santana decides which color glove to pick for a start.

Chris Herrmann, C

He’s listed as catcher, but Herrmann plays many positions and he turned to Torii Hunter for some advice.

Brain Dozier, 2B

The All-Star second baseman has been using the same type of glove since high school.

Aaron Hicks, OF

The young outfielder makes a midseason switch each year, breaking in a new “gamer” glove.
