The Twins announced today that they are activating third baseman Trevor Plouffe from the 15-day disabled list and optioning infielder Tsuyoshi Nishioka back to Class AAA Rochester.
Plouffe has been out since July 20 with a bruised right thumb. He went 0-for-8 on a rehab assignment for Class AAA Rochester.
Nishioka went 0-for-12 and made three errors of the Twins in last week's three-game series at Cleveland and remained on the bench for this weekend, as the Twins were swept by Tampa Bay.
Nishioka, 28, has batted .245 with Rochester this season and will have a chance to settle in again there, with the International League's regular season set to end on Sept. 3.
