Trevor Plouffe passed his SCAT-2 - Sports Concussion Assessment Test - with flying colors and is expected to be activated from the 7-day concussion DL in time for Wednesday's game against the Brewers. The Twins still have to submit paperwork an independent specialist for final approval, but that is expected to be a formality.
The Twins will announce a corresponding roster move tomorrow. They currently have 13 pitchers on the staff and could go back to 12. Chris Hermann, Chris Colabello or Brian Dozier could be options as well. Dozier, however, got a hit yesterday and thinks he's figured out something with his swing. He wasn't getting his foot down quick enough before he swung the bat, leading to him being out of whack when making contact. He believes he's now getting his foot down quickly and getting the bat head out. We'll see.
Wilkin Ramirez, however, is not feeling 100 percent and there is a chance that he won't be ready to come off of the 7-day concussion DL when he's eligible
Oswaldo Arcia has a sore right shoulder. He missed Monday's game at Rochester but is in the lineup tonight as the designated hitter. He will DH-only for a few days while working on shoulder strengthening exercises.
Liam Hendriks (elbow) is close to being activated from the disabled list at Rochester and returning to the Red Wings rotation. He threw live batting practice on Tuesday.
Catcher Dan Rohlfing has been promoted from New Britain to Rochester in place of Hermann. Rolfing can play a little outfield and first base as well.
Catcher Drew Butera (broken left hand) had a setback a few days ago but feels better and is eager to play in games. Twins doctors want to make sure the bones have fully healed first.
Reliever Tim Wood (shoulder) has been working out at Target Field and reports no soreness. He's heading to Rochester to continue his throwing program.
