The raw "counting" numbers for Teddy Bridgewater, through five games this season, continue to put him very close to the bottom of the NFL in several key categories (namely yards per game and touchdown passes, where he is 31st and tied for 31st, respectively).

But Total QBR, a newer statistic aimed at evaluating a quarterback's situational contributions, says Bridgewater is the No. 9 quarterback in the NFL this season — better than Philip Rivers, Russell Wilson and Drew Brees, among others.

It's not a matter of believing one set of stats or another, though it is an interesting contrast.
