A Minneapolis recycling truck driver died from an apparent electrical shock outside an industrial business near Detroit Lakes in northwestern Minnesota, authorities said Thursday.

The incident occurred shortly after 2 p.m. Wednesday in Audubon at Team Industries, according to the Becker County Sheriff's Office.

Joseph M. Boyle, 43, was near the rear of a parked Northern Metal Recycling semitrailer truck.

The truck's hydraulic bed extension was resting against an overhead electrical power line, the Sheriff's Office said.

Emergency responders declared Boyle, of Foley, Minn., dead at the scene.

Boyle joined Northern Metal within the past year, said Scott Helberg, the chief operating officer based at the company's Minneapolis facility.

Helbers said that Boyle "quickly proved himself an exceptionally hard working and friendly team member who supported his colleagues at all times. Our hearts are with his family and friends during this time."

Minnesota OSHA, the state's workplace safety agency, has been notified and will be investigating the death, said spokesman James Honerman.

Team Industries' principal products include transmissions and transaxles, axles and four-wheel-drive systems.
