Track and field preview: Top athletes to watch

CLASS 2A

Evan McClellon, jr., Armstrong: Bolted to third in the 100 meters and eighth in the 200 at the state meet last spring. Started strong this season as the only sprinter to post a sub-7-second time (6.98) in the 60 at the Early Bird Indoor Track and Field Trials at the University of Minnesota Field House.

Marissa Bartels, sr., Delano: Dominated the wheelchair events, setting state meet records in the 800 (3:08.04), shot put (16 feet, 6¼ inches) and discus (46-2) and also winning the 100.

CLASS 1A

Jon Tollefson, sr., St. Croix Lutheran: Tollefson (left) defended titles in the 110 and 300 hurdles, and set a state meet record (14.36 seconds) in the 110.

Chazz Johnson, sr., Holy Family: Showcased various talents by taking second in the long jump, third in the 100 and seventh in the 200.
