TOTINO-GRACE 28, HOPKINS 27

Quarterback Lance Benick ran in a two-point conversion with 40 seconds left as the Eagles avoided an upset on a night when they were anything but efficient. Twice they were stopped inside the Hopkins 10-yard line in the first half. An interception returned for a touchdown by Royals do-it-all athlete Bill Atkins kept Totino-Grace playing catch-up much of the game. But running back Kez Flomo rushed for 174 yards, and the Eagles came through when it mattered most.

Key of the game: Trailing by seven, Totino-Grace marched 71 yards in 5 minutes, 9 seconds before Flomo scored untouched from 3 yards for his second touchdown of the game. Benick then kept the ball on a play-action bootleg on the winning conversion.

Quote: "I love it. I have confidence in my team. I knew we'd do it, and I'm just glad the coaches felt the same way." — Flomo on the decision to go for two in the final minute.

One thing to know: Hopkins had little trouble moving the ball against the Eagles. Oscar Johnson threw for 244 yards and two touchdowns as the Royals racked up 385 total yards.
